March 30th MCMGs Powerbomb Illness and Injury
Post Discussion: Comments Off
Post Categories: Spike TV Blogs. Published by DJ

This week the tag team of the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) review what it took for Chris Sabin to get to their match at Destination X and how Alex is recovering from his back injury.

Chris Sabin

This past week was a rough one, to say the least.

It all started last weekend with TNA live events in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Pensacola Florida, on Thursday and Friday respectively. Both shows went great, we got a feel for Generation ME before our big Ultimate X match (more on that later) and most importantly had fun doing it. Then, as last week’s blog was written about, I got food poisoning. Waffle House. Waitress named Broom. Couldn’t have had worse timing. Two days before our big Ultimate X match on PPV television, I spent the entire night expelling liquids from my body on both ends, shivering, sweating, and taking short naps on the bathroom floor in your generic $50 a night hotel. I’ve never had food poisoning before and I never want it again, one of the worst things a human can go through. I couldn’t make my flight the next day, nor could I eat or drink anything (including water) for the entirety of the next day. Luckily, I spent all day recovering in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday and caught an early flight into Orlando on Sunday, ready as ever for Destination X!

Wait a second, no I wasn’t.

Trying to fight what my body had just gone through, I showed up at the IMPACT Zone at Universal Studios in high spirits ready to show the world what the Machine Guns are about. I was tired, very dehydrated and had little nutrition the last day and a half or so, and I was feeling it. But this is Professional Wrestling, there aren’t delays, time off, or excuses. You have to do what you have to do. So I chugged as much water as my body would allow, downed a bag of animal crackers and onward we went. In my opinion we did exactly what we were supposed to-be different, be unique, give the fans what they want to see, and prove that the X Division is what TNA is built on. After and before the match were rough, but in between was amazing. Maybe my body just kicked in, with some sort of survivalist instinct or something, but I felt good during the match. Forgot I even was sick. It’s strange how some ailments don’t require medicine, rest, or therapy to snap out of it. Sometimes all it takes is the right state of mind. All in all, the PPV went great, The Machine Guns are your new #1 contender for the TNA tag titles, and most important of all, I will never, ever, ever eat Waffle House again.

Team 3D comes to the ring and get on the mic. They mention a poll on the TNA website to determine the most popular tag team and it was a tie between them and the Motor City Machine Guns. Team 3D challenged the Machine Guns for the title shot that the Machine Guns earned at Generation X and the Machine Guns accepted.

Motor City Machine Guns versus Team 3D goes to a No Contest. During the match, Chris Sabin accidentally knocked out referee Slick Johnson. Earl Hebner came out to replace Johnson and the match ended with a double pin. Devon had Sabin pinned while Shelley pinned Ray.

Christopher Daniels was interviewed by Fanhouse.com & spoke a bit about the Guns:

Being a locker room leader:

But in terms of the guys who you almost look at as my peers, guys like The Motor City Machine Guns and Kazarian and [Amazing] Red, the guys that I’m paired with in terms of wrestling, yeah they look to me as somebody to, I guess get advice from or somebody who’s been where they wanna go, then yeah they come to me for advice and things like that. You know, I haven’t been the guy who’d always gotten advice from the guys ahead of me, I feel like it’s sort of my job to help too and give back and try to be that type of leader to the younger guys.
