July 30th Change to PWG Card, Shelley Injured?
Post Discussion: Add / View Comments?
Post Categories: PWG,Upcoming Events. Published by DJ - Permalink

Thanks to Caitlin for sending me this, PWG has changed the lineup for tomorrow’s show:

With interest in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla seemingly at an all-time high heading into tomorrow’s seventh anniversary event Seven, we figured it would be best if we changed things up at the last minute. You know, to keep people on their toes. To do this, we asked one half of the Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley, to somehow injure himself at the TNA Wrestling TV tapings scheduled to take place just days before Seven. We didn’t care how he did it or what he injured, we just wanted an excuse to make changes to the show! Because Alex Shelley is not only a consummate professional but a top-notch team player as well, he was more than happy to oblige.

In all seriousness, at TNA Wrestling’s TV taping this past Tuesday, Alex Shelley suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of action for tomorrow’s event. While the severity of the injury is unknown at this time, we hope for the best and wish Alex Shelley a speedy recovery. We’re sure we speak for everyone reading this that we eagerly await his return to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

With the last-minute nature of Alex Shelley’s injury, we hope our fans can understand that we have been forced to make a few changes to the line-up (and if not, then that’s why it says “Card Subject to Change,” jerk). Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Seven is now scheduled to feature:

Six-Person Tag Team Match
Brandon Gatson, Johnny Goodtime, & Candice LeRae vs. “Pretty” Peter Avalon, Malachi “CK” Jackson, & Ryan Taylor

Singles Match
Brandon Bonham vs. Brian Cage

Singles Match
Chris Sabin vs. Akira Tozawa

Bryan Danielson Return Match
“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship Title Three Way Guerrilla Warfare Match

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship Title Match
Davey Richards (Champion) vs. Chris Hero (Challenger)

Scott Lost Retirement Match

Best Of Five Series Match Three: TNA World Tag Team Champions Motor City Machine Guns vs Beer Money

Damn, they got that cage up quick! The Guns dive off the cage onto Beer Money to start, then ram both members of Beer Money into the cage. Series of fast double team moves on Storm, and then a springboard dropkick on Roode sends him crashing into the cage and he’s busted open already. Shelley goes for Sliced Bread #2, but Storm escapes and gets a hanging neckbreaker off the second rope for 2. Storm rams Shelley into the turnbuckle and pounds him in the face as we see Roode bleeding, then tags in Roode, who comes in with a stiff kick to the guy of Shelley. Beer Money with a slam/elbowdrop/kneedrop combo for 2. Storm comes in and pops Shelley in the mouth then tags Roode back in and we HIT THE CHINLOCK! Shelley fights his way free, but Roode nails him and puts him up top and goes for a superplex, but Shelley rams Roode into the cage several times and hits a top rope Frankensteiner. Shelley makes the hot tag and Sabin comes in and cleans house, h itting a top rope dropkick on both men. Sabin puts Roode in the corner, hangs Storm upside down in front of him, hits a Yakuza Kick to Roode, a delayed baseball slide to Storm, and then Shelley tries Sliced Bread #2 on Roode but Roode escapes and kills Sabin with a lariat. Roode and Shelley go up top but Shelley rams Roode facefirst into the cage and hits a double stomp off the top onto Roode. MCMG with more double team moves on Beer Money but Sabin misses one and then Storm hits a Spinning slam on Shelley and powerbombs Sabin into the cage, and then Storm follows that with a lungblower for a very close 2. Beer Money tries to escape but Shelley goes up and tosses Roode off, then gives Storm a jawbreaker off the top. Sabin climbs to the top of the cage and hits a crossbody off the top on both men and all four are down. That should have been the finish. Storm goes for a shot with the beer bottle, but Sabin moves and Storm nails Roode, and the MCMG hit the doubler stomp/neckbre aker to pick up the win.

Winners: Motor City Machine Guns

What a match! That was absolutely awesome, and now the MCMG have their choice of the type of match next week.

Airing August 5th:

Show »

*In a “Capture the X” style Ultimate X Match, it’s Beer Money vs. The Motor City Machineguns. Robert Roode cuts a promo saying that The Guns have proven they are great and even though it’s their type of match, Beer Money are taking the titles tonight. The Guns respond that the only way they are taking the belts is from their cold, dead hands. There are lots of great spots to open the match and some nice back and forth wrestling. Beer Money gets the upper hand but can’t get the X because Roode is afraid of heights and Storm appears to have had a little too much to drink. Another great match between the two teams, with the end being Alex Shelley sliding acrossd the ropes while Roode walked across like a tight rope. They fought near the X and Roode got crotched and bumped into the ring while Shelley grabbed the X. They are tied 2-2.

The 5th match will take place on August 12th

*Beer Money vs. Motor City Machineguns in a Steel Cage (Match 3 of 5 match series). They are doing traditional tag rules inside the Cage. Roode is busted open. The crowd is into this one big time. The roof came off the Impact Zone after Alex Shelley flew from the top of the cage to land on Beer Money. James Storm nailed Roode with the beer bottle accidentally and both members of BM were pinned. 2-1 now and the Guns are still alive. Awesome match.
